Actively supervises the safe and sanitary service of meals and all other related nutrition program activities at designated dinning centers.
65% Participating in the serving of food, clean-up and related tasks at dining center
- Greeting new participants or having a designated volunteer do so
- Recruiting, screening, and supervising volunteers to assist in the operation of the dining center
- Scheduling and/or supervising volunteers
- Responsibility for food safety and sanitation
- Serving as the on-site liaison with the director of the business in which the dining center is located (senior center, apt complex, etc)
- Ordering appropriate quantities of meals on a daily basis.
- Keeping a log of supplies used and ordering from Nutrition Supervisor when needed.
15% Maintaining records and reports as required
- Registering new participants by having them complete a NAPIS Registration Form
- Collecting, counting and depositing participant donations
15% Portioning, sealing and packaging of meals for home delivery
5% Attending dining center managers' meetings
Attending annual regional trainings
- Ability to effectively supervise volunteers
- Ability to plan and coordinate food service at dining center
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with the director and other employees of the dining center location.
- Knowledge and skills to maintain accurate records and present clear, concise reports in verbal and written form
- Ability to comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational and people skills
- Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's license/ and or a dependable method of getting to place of employment.
- The dining center manager will obtain appropriate training and pass the Serving Safe Foods exam upon notification of hiring and before beginning the food handling position. This training will include but not limited to: safe food handling,food borne illnesses, hygienic practices of all workers, equipment sanitation, dishwashing procedures, facility sanitation, rules for safe work and fire and safety regulations.
- The dining site manager shall complete a Serving Safe Food (SS Food) course once every five years and pass the applicable exam related to the course. The course is periodically offered at no cost to the dining site manager. This food certification course includes lecture, discussion, short quizzes, and an open book exam. This course will meet the requirements for managers whose work duties include, receiving prepared food from caterer each day, proper hot and cold food holding, serving, minimal cooking and clean-up but no purchasing.
- Ability to lift hot pans from oven. Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time and for the major portion of working hours
- Ability to bend and lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
