Seeking Union and Non-Union Sanderson Sisters (Rock Cauldron Cabaret)

DESCRIPTION

Velvet Toreador Co. announces auditions for Rock Cauldron Cabaret (formerly Winnie’s Rock Cauldron Cabaret), a theatrical rock concert featuring The Sanderson Sisters of Hocus Pocus, which debuted Fall 2018. Creator and Producer, Jennica McCleary (AEA), opened Disney’s Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular as Winifred, has worked for Freeform and Disney , and entertained as Bette Midler Tribute Artist for over 18 years. She is featured in the Disney Publishing Book; Witches Run Amok-An Oral History of Hocus Pocus.

Rock Cauldron Cabaret is accepting submissions from Union and Non-Union performers in the Boston/Salem, MA/Northshore and NYC areas.

*Note- THIS SHOW IS NOT A REPLICA OF THE MOVIES!!! The Sanderson Sisters of RCC perform as the characters from the films, but in our own realm- with cover songs, parodies and an agenda to hex the patriarchy.

Female/ Female presenting/Nonbinary performers (BIPOC & LGBTQIA highly encouraged to audition!)

Casting Female/ Female Presenting/ Non-binary Actors and Triple Threats, especially seeking women over 35! (singers/actors/dancers- those who move well) to be part of the 2026/27 cast of Rock Cauldron Cabaret. Seeking full-time performers and swings. Singers-Ability to 3 part harmonize essential-should be strong movers or dancers. Actors-Strong improv and character skills essential! Rehearsals will begin early September.

PLEASE NOTE: Full Pay Breakdown will be available at Callbacks, as we are still receiving bookings! A rehearsal stipend is provided upon approval as Actor Cast, Theatrical Cast, or both at the end of September. During the rehearsal process, to embrace the characters, cast members will also earn a percentage of tips from photos and Meet and Greets in Salem. Our typical pay out is between $175-$350/ 6 hour shift. During Peak Performance season, currently Sept 28-Nov 7 with possibly of extending to Nov 15, promise of pay for full time performers is $1,200.00 per week. In some cases, bonuses from merch sales, social media posts or live events, may also be offered. Typically, our full time performers earn closer to $1,500 per week. Travel, accommodations and per-diem provided for work 100 miles or more outside of Salem, MA.

Housing information for 2026 Fall season will also be available at Callbacks. 2027 season projected to begin April 2027.

Casting breakdown

SARAH SANDERSON: The iconic character from Hocus Pocus created by Sarah Jessica Parker. Mezzo soprano/ belt. Strong mover, good with harmonies. She is mistaken as “the sexy one” but uses her allure to draw in her victims. A Siren. A free spirit, always moving. Often seems unfocused but intentional with her actions. At times, she is reactive and impulsive. She is the neurodivergent of the group. Strong comedic timing. (For Theatrical Production Only; Soprano- Pop/Rock/Musical Theatre with Belt)

MARY SANDERSON: The iconic character from Hocus Pocus created by Kathy Najimi. Strong Alto with some belt. Strong mover, good with harmonies. The most intuitive of the sisters but repressed by Winifred. Questions herself even when she's right. Likes to make Winnie happy and be a loyal helper but the two have a special connection. Strong comedic timing. (For Theatrical Production Only; Alto- Pop/Rock/Musical Theatre with some Belt)

WINIFRED SANDERSON: The iconic character from Hocus Pocus created by Bette Midler. Mezzo-Sop with belt, mostly mixed voice. Strong mover, good with harmonies. Hosting and MC skills are a plus. She is the leader and oldest in the trio. Winnie takes the reins when leading the audience. She is NOT afraid to put the unruly in their place. Of the three sisters, she is the most naturally powerful, but she knows she couldn’t do it without her sisters. Winnie keeps her thumb on them to maintain control. Much of her character is in the physical; facial reactions, slight finger twitches, bombastic arms. Iconic Winifred laugh and speaking voice is a must. (It doesn't have to be perfect to audition!)
