Job Title: Sr. Director, Laboratory Services
Department: Pathology & Lab Operations
Location: Potsdam, NY with support in Gouverneur and Massena
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8 hours, variable
SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Senior Director of Laboratory Services oversees the operations of Laboratory Services. The Senior Director of Laboratory will ensure that all Laboratory services across system provide the same quality and standard of care. The Senior Director of Laboratory will appoint and lead Directors and Supervisors across the various service offerings. The Senior Director will also assess community needs across the hospital catchment areas to determine if new services are necessary and viable. If the results of the assessment determines the need for new programs, the Senior Director will collaborate with various areas, such as Finance and IS to create sustainable programs. This includes working with Laboratory Directors to create policies, operational workflows and budgets for the proposed services. The Senior Director will provide on-going collaboration with the medical staff and other departments across the health system to develop and/ or refine the work flow and provide services in order to increase access and increase the quality of care for our patient population and community. Will serve as the point of contact for Laboratory integration activities with other Rochester Regional Laboratory leadership teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly oversees the leadership team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Laboratory Service Lines. Works to ensure each service area has the necessary staffing, equipment and support to provide the highest quality of care for the Laboratory health population.
Responsible for final budget assumptions throughout the services provided. Works with Laboratory Directors and Supervisors to ensure fiscal responsibility and assists in creating strategies to meet and exceed budget assumptions while staying within operational budgets.
Actively reviews quality and compliance measures of all services throughout the Laboratory service lines to ensure the metrics provided by DOH and DNV are met.
Engages with other departments in the hospital to provide assistance in matters concerning the treatment of Laboratory patients. Collaborates with other service providers to ensure access and quality of care for Laboratory patients is optimal throughout other service lines.
Creates and sustains relationships with community providers with the aim of increasing access and providing information on services offered throughout RRH Laboratory departments.
Works collaboratively with corporate communications to ensure external messaging around Laboratory services is in line with meeting Rochester Regional Health’s objectives.
Working with key Leadership to shape and develop a robust Laboratory service line.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Degree: Associate's Degree
Required Years of Experience:
5 years administrative experience in Laboratory Services
Clinical experience with Laboratory services
At least 5 years of successful leadership experience and effective written/ verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
PAY RANGE: $145,000.00 - $185,000.00
