Schedule: 7:30a - 4p - One 5:30p shift required per week | Monday - Friday
On Call: Once every 8-10 weeks
SUMMARY:
As a Registered Nurse - IV, your nursing experience and leadership abilities allow you to develop and implement quality care plans for patients, while acting as a mentor to others on the unit.
Hematology/Medical Oncology Unit/Infusion Center is here to provide services required for care of cancer and blood disorders to adults and geriatric inpatients and outpatients. Services include: chemotherapeutics, laboratory studies, bone marrow aspirations and biopsies, infusion, transfusions and consultations. Hospital responsibilities include the medical direction of the Cancer Center. Other ancillary services include navigation, social work, spiritual care and home care service connections.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment - Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Planning & Implementation - Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family.
Evaluation & Education - Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities.
Training - Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
Registered Nurse License in State of New York.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates in Human Services or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology or Human Services preferred.
1-3 years of healthcare experience in related field preferred.
Strong communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
- RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PAY RANGE: $35.34 - $47.13
