Job Title: Spanish Teacher (1st - 8th Grades)
Duration: School Year (10 months), Monday-Friday
Job Type: Half-time (.5 FTE) possible expansions to .75 or full time
Reports To: Head of School
Job Summary
The Spanish Teacher is responsible for developing in each student an interest in, and the ability to, speak, read, and write in the Spanish language. Spanish instruction will also focus on developing in students a broad global perspective and deep cultural awareness.
Basic Responsibilities
Teach knowledge and skills in Spanish, including speaking (vocabulary), reading, and writing.
Help students develop cultural awareness through Spanish
Provide effective, developmentally appropriate, and differentiated language instruction for diverse learners.
Interact with families and promote family involvement to support learning
Keep accurate records of each student’s progress in Spanish and instructional lesson planning.
Required Qualifications:
- Fluency in Spanish
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with children
- Demonstrated creativity, initiative, responsibility, industry, reliability, and team-building skills
- Willingness to learn about Montessori pedagogy and practice.
- Willingness to learn about Positive Discipline methods.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in the field of education
- Teaching experience/training in a Montessori setting
- Positive Discipline experience/training
Hours of Employment
- Half time with some possibility for .75 FTE, or full time if combined with after school care position.
Pay: 21,000-22,000 (.5 FTE) , 42,000-44,000 (1.0 FTE)
