2025-2026 Salary

$17.16 per hour, per RSPA Master Agreement for Classification II

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:            

  1. High School Diploma with excellent command of the English language.
  2. General office experience required.
  3. Intermediate computer skills and aptitude to learn software programs required for use in this position and the district.
  4. The ability to use a variety of automated systems and office equipment to produce correspondence, reports, specifications and other data.
  5. Ability to handle a variety of duties and to accomplish tasks with frequent interruptions.
  6. Ability to interact positively with school/community and work with minimal supervision.
  7. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance required.
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal

 

 

JOB GOAL:  To serve as secretary to the principal and to act as facilitator in communicating with parents, students and staff in solving problems, acquiring materials and in keeping records. 

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs secretarial functions for school principal to include but not limited to principal communications, principal’s calendar, scheduling meetings and appointments, co-curricular contracts, Building contracts/calendar/room reservations, EMS, District/Building Calendar, new teacher mentors, and keeping principal advised of events/situations that may arise while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Relieves school principal of details which do not require their personal attention by use of discretion, tact and thorough knowledge of district/office policies and procedures.
  2. Prepare and distribute annual building level operational communication for school employees.
  3. Maintains accurate school specific records for administrators’ access and emergency communication.
  4.  Serves as one of the most visible and positive public relations advocates for the District and school by interacting appropriately with visitors, staff and students; answering questions; relaying messages; following through with problem resolution through various forms of communication to including answering phones calls, responding to emails, and addressing walk in visitors.
  5. Maintain supplies, and coordinates other building level material distributions per principal direction (e.g. student parking passes, building keys, student locker assignments, etc.)
  6. Coordinates “end-of-year” checkout process.
  7. Organize various special projects throughout the year to such as Curriculum Night, 8th Grade Parent Night, and Departmental Awards, and other events.
  8. Member of Critical Incident Team to include but not limited to, attending meetings, assisting in drills, record keeping, updating Crisis Book and forms as necessary, record and submit appropriate forms as required. Post information to the Rochester Community School website and update weekly reports on the Oakland County website, At-a-Glance Updates on the Building Common Drive.
  9. Track, update, verify and submit support staff timesheets and extra duty timecards and comp time records for teaching staff. Track time cards.  Manage administrative and teacher absences.  Manage buildings’ daily substitute needs.
  10. Uses computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments (e.g. update school website, publish monthly newsletter, school messenger notifications).
  11. Backup assistance for Building Clerical Team.
  12. Services as liaison and provides support as needed to PTSA.
  13. Perform other duties as required.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. 11 month position
  2. 8 hours per day
  3. Salary and benefits as per master agreement for Classification II.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. An employee working in this assignment will be required to sit for long periods of time and work on a desktop computer.
  2. Data entry and record search is a large part of the duties of this position and repetitive hand motion will be required.

 

REQUIRED POSITION TESTS: 

Microsoft Office Current District Version: Intermediate Word and Excel, and PowerPoint; and Office 2010 Basic Outlook; OPAC Clerical Skills Assessments in: Customer Service Phone Skills; Numeric/Alpha/Record Locator Tests, Sentence Clarity, and Spelling.  Encounter Software: Interpersonal/Teamwork Assessment
