POSITION SUMMARY:
The Art Department is seeking applicants for adjunct faculty positions for Drawing and Composition and Ceramics courses. In-seat classroom positions are available on the main campus. Required qualifications include a discipline-related master’s degree or a master’s degree and at least 18 graduate hours in the discipline. Candidates with terminal degrees and other specialized training are also highly desired.
Adjunct contracts are less than part-time and made on a semester-by-semester basis, but often result in recurring assignments within a regular course rotation. Adjunct openings often occur on short notice as additional class sections are added based on enrollment numbers. Applications are always welcome.
Adjuncts are a significant part of our community and are invited to participate in university activities and mentorship initiatives.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline
Previous teaching experience is preferred; candidates willing to receive mentorship will be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with the Dean on the syllabus and curriculum situated within RCU learning goals.
Effectively plan active learning assignments in multiple modalities for student engagement.
Confidentially create and maintain appropriate educational records to document the academic performance of students.
Fulfill adjunct duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
Stay current in departmental and university policies, procedures, and practices related to the classroom to provide accurate information and support to students.
Promote an inclusive Rochester and participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to the success of all students.
