What are the responsibilities and job description for the OR AIDE position at Rochester Ambulatory Surgery Center?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL SEGMENT
- Supply dressing rooms with hats and shoe covers, and keep tidy, change linen bags as necessary.
- Check and fill sub sterile rooms with linens and supplies, as necessary including blanket/fluid warmers.
- Keep supply of scrub brushes and masks and scrub solution available at OR scrub sinks.
- Clean storage room and storage area monthly.
- Do miscellaneous duties and errands according to departmental needs.
- Accept laundry delivery and put away as needed.
- Check off supplies as they arrive and place in appropriate storage areas.
- General cleaning as assigned.
- Unload dishwasher in morning, run dishwasher at end of day.
- Make coffee in the morning for staff lounge.
- Assist in various areas of the ASC as necessary.
- Complete special assignments as indicated and necessary for the smooth functioning of ASC
- Assume responsibility for personal growth by participating in scheduled and mandatory in-services.
- Uses good work safety habits (includes PPE).
- Flexes schedule to accommodate ASC.
- Works late as assigned in advance.
- Other duties as needed to ensure smooth running of ASC.
PRE AN AREA SEGMENT
- Assist with patient care as needed.
- Transfer patient belongings to Recovery area.
- Brings clean stretchers to PreAn.
INSTRUMENT PROCESSING SEGMENT
- Assist with instrument processing after primary duties are accomplished.
- Wash soiled instruments in the Instrument Room and reassemble sets using cards.
- Use washer-sterilizer and autoclaves.
- Identify instruments in need of repair and begin repair process.
- Properly prepare instruments for sterilization and storage.
- Keep hall clean and clear as much as possible.
OR ROOM SEGMENT
- Assist in setting up the Operating Room with supplies and equipment for the first case of the day.
- Assist in subsequent turnovers during the day, including, but not limited to: restocking room, gathering necessary equipment, mopping floors, etc.
- Assists with terminal cleaning of rooms.
- Assist with transferring patients on and off the OR table.
- Assist assigned circulators with OR room errands.
- Hold limbs for prepping as necessary.
- Prepare mop buckets for the day and terminal cleaning.
- Check the supply of sterile linen and various other supplies and restock as necessary.
- Put away sterile supplies each morning and whenever necessary throughout the day.
- Do weekly cleaning as assigned.
- Assist with checking and restocking all the OR rooms in the afternoon as necessary.
- Perform other duties as necessary to assure the smooth functioning of RASC.
EDUCATION
- High School
EXPERIENCE
No experience necessary. Health care experience preferred.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent physical and mental health: walking, standing, lifting, moving equipment required.
Cooperative and dependable.
Salary : $18 - $22
