The Position
Sequencing Bioinformatics Specialist
The Opportunity:
As a Sequencing Bioinformatics Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Sequencing & Life Sciences franchise at Roche. This position focuses on bioinformatics as it relates to the Sequencing instruments and associated products within the Roche Sequencing portfolio. You will contribute to the growth and success of accounts ranging from Commercial Sequencing Providers to Academic Medical Centers, Large Reference Labs, Molecular Pathology Labs, Biotech, Pharma, and Universities. These institutions leverage genomic methods, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), in both research and clinical applications.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales Engagement & Expertise:
- Drive achievement of sales quotas by actively engaging in sales activities
- Provide technical expertise throughout the sales process
- Offer effective consultations on applications, assay design, data analysis, and interpretation
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet revenue targets and grow market share
- Deliver product presentations, demonstrations, and in-depth consultative discussions
- Key technical areas include:
- Sample preparation for sequencing
- NGS data analysis, management, sharing, and storage
- Analysis, annotation, interpretation, and reporting of NGS testing for clinical and research settings
- Integration of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) across workflows
- Cloud-based pipeline optimization and automation
- Bioinformatics approaches tailored to specific genomic applications
Align with Sequencing Sales Specialists, Genomic Solutions Specialists, and Regional Business Managers to implement strategic territory plans.
- Train local sales teams and support colleagues to enhance sales of sequencing platforms and informatics solutions
- Work closely with marketing, product management, and service/support teams to align sales efforts with organizational goals and customer needs
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, offering guidance to overcome informatics challenges and achieve their scientific goals
- Represent Roche at conferences, trade shows, and networking events to enhance brand awareness and thought leadership
- Stay ahead of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscapes to refine sales strategies and seize new business opportunities
Travel Requirements:
- Estimate travel 25-50% of the time

- You hold a Bachelor's Degree degree in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry or equivalent experience
- You hold 5 years relevant sales experience, Bioinformatics experience or equivalent experience.
- Deep knowledge of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, platforms, methodologies, and applications
- Proficiency in sequencing data analysis and interpretation, including primary, secondary, and tertiary analysis workflows
- Expertise in clinical informatics, bioinformatics, or adjacent fields
- Familiarity with sequencing applications (current and emerging), data formats, file types, data footprints, and analysis methods
- Solid understanding of life sciences markets, coupled with the ability to identify customer needs and articulate value propositions
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to convey complex scientific concepts to varied audiences
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented, with a proven track record of exceeding sales targets
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-changing environment
- Master's or Ph.D.
- Previous roles in direct sales or customer-facing positions are advantageous
