You are already an expert. Robson Forensic will train you to be a forensic expert.

You are a P.E. who has spent 10 years or more in manufacturing and/or end-user product design. This role asks you to bring that same judgment to a different question: why an incident happened. You will work alongside nationally respected experts on casework that is consequential to industry and society, and you will keep learning for the rest of your career.

Prior forensic experience is not required. We hire for deep industry knowledge and teach the rest.

What you will do:

  • Investigate manufacturing and/or end-user product incidents.
  • Analyze safeguards, instructions, warnings, & foreseeable uses/misuses of products/equipment.
  • Write clear, scientifically sound reports.
  • Provide expert testimony.

Potential litigation/claims include manufacturing equipment, material handling, hand/power tools, plant layouts, and the safe design of industrial, commercial, and consumer products.

What we require:

  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or an E.I.T./F.E. with the required 4 years of experience and ability to sit for the P.E. exam.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, and/or other closely related field of Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited school.
  • Experience: 10 years of hands-on manufacturing and production experience, including design, installation, start-up, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a variety of manufacturing equipment and/or end-user products.
  • Expertise must include design or specification for equipment, products, or processes.
  • Other expertise should include familiarity of material handling systems that include forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, and/or conveyors, manufacturing facility operation and maintenance processes, including work cells and robotics, utility systems (steam, water, air, gas, etc.), safety processes/procedures used in the design of products placed into the stream of commerce and/or in the research/development of novel mechanical systems; design/specification of machine guarding, warnings, safety instructions.
  • Industry standards: Experience using ANSI, ASME, ASTM, SAE, and other industry standards.
  • Skills: Strong technical, analytical, writing, and communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical findings for non-engineers.
  • Other: A clean background screen, a driver’s license, and the ability to drive.

Experience that helps, though not required:

  • Experience and training in the Reliability-Centered Maintenance process.
  • Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA).
  • Root cause failure analysis.
  • Hazard analysis/risk assessments.

Work style:
