What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Trainer position at ROBS?
River Oaks Baptist School is seeking an experienced Athletic Trainer to provide care and prevention services for our student-athletes, ensuring their physical health and safety during sports and school-related activities. This role involves injury assessment, rehabilitation, and collaboration with coaches, parents, and healthcare providers. This position may be offered as full- or part-time, depending on the candidate’s experience and the needs of the School.

Responsibilities:
- Provide practice and event athletic training coverage to home and visiting teams and officials for all ROBS athletic home events.
- Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries.
- Set-up and break down practice and event venues – water cows, coolers, cups, water bottles, ice chest, etc.
- Provide pre-practice and pre-event treatments and preventive measures.
- Teach 1 class of strength and conditioning daily during sports seasons.
- Assist the School clinic on sports related injuries.
- Monitor and coordinate weather and enforce ROBS’ weather policy plan for students, coaches, spectators, and officials.
- Communicate with parents, coaching staff and administration regarding athletic injuries and complete injury reports.
- Communicate with physicians and specialists regarding student athletic injuries.
- Maintain clean and functional facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Coordinate the Athletic Physical Exam process each spring and ensure that all students complete required physicals by the start of their sport season.
- Evaluate and assist with Concussion protocols.
- Educate parents, students, and coaches on Concussion protocols, and manage ROBS Concussion Return to Play protocols for students and parents.
- Embrace lifelong learning and a growth mindset for both students and self.
- Communicate effectively and consistently with parents and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
- Follow established policies and procedures outlined in the ROBS employee handbook.
- Develop and practice cultural competence, promoting respect, equity, and belonging within the school community.
- Attend and participate in all scheduled in-service sessions and mandatory employee training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field.
- Texas Department of State Health Services Advisory Board of Athletic Trainer’s Licensure.
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
- Three years’ experience working with adolescent athletes in a similar role preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment.
- Successful completion of reference and background checks.
