We are looking for a Mechanical Preconstruction Estimator to deliver comprehensive HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, and fire protection estimates from concept through final bid. They will manage bid scopes, solicit trade partners, review proposals, and identify cost-saving opportunities to support the preconstruction team.

We are looking for a Mechanical Preconstruction Estimator to deliver comprehensive HVAC, plumbing, medical gas, and fire protection estimates from concept through final bid. They will manage bid scopes, solicit trade partners, review proposals, and identify cost-saving opportunities to support the preconstruction team.

- Develop mechanical, plumbing and fire protection budgets during preconstruction phases of project.
- Prepare detailed estimates utilizing current estimating software and mechanical database.
- Develop comprehensive mechanical bid scopes for each project.
- Assist project team in design decisions, field changes, constructability issues, cost options.
- Attend pre-bid conferences and jobsite visits when required.
- Participate in the preparation and assembly of the estimate presentations to clients and post bid interviews.
- Attend and actively participate in design/preconstruction meetings, take notes, and issue minutes for communication to the project team.
- Participate in project design coordination meetings.
- Participate in GMP budgeting activities by soliciting trade partner support and evaluating bids.
- Provide viable, cost-effective alternatives including cost, schedule, maintenance, & life cycle implications.
- Review project documents for completeness and compliance to project goals.
- Organize and publish data for historical cost purposes.
- Provide guidance and assistance to team members; mentor less senior team members.
- Represent Robins & Morton to trade partners through preconstruction process (bid scoping, cost management, RFI’s, scheduling & sequencing, constructability, etc.).
- Prepare & manage Mechanical Bid Analysis process, including scopes of work for all mechanical subcontracts.
- Undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree (construction management, engineering, or related degree, preferred)
- Preconstruction Experience – Minimum of three years preconstruction/estimating experience preferred
- Field Experience – Minimum of one year (more experience is preferred)
- Experience with estimating software (Timberline, Quick-Pen, OST, Procore, Assemble, etc.)
- Experience working for or with subcontracts, trade partners and/or self-perform work.
