What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Interpreter/Medical Office Assistant position at Robeson Health Care Corporation?
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Medical Interpreter/Medical Office Assistant works as part of the “front office” team performing those duties necessary to prepare our bilingual patients for a clinic visit. The Medical Interpreter/Medical Office Assistant primary duty will be to translate for Robeson Health Care Corporation’s Spanish speaking population for the appropriate delivery of health care services. Other duties will include answering/directing incoming calls, preparing medical records, verifying and documenting patient information, payment and collections, recording charges.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist RHCC in maintaining a daily productivity goal as designated by the President/CEO.
2. Ensure quality patient care per JCAHO, Bureau of Primary Health Care, and RHCC standards.
3. Perform other necessary duties as required by the Robeson Health Care Corporation to meet the goal of providing primary health care services.
4. Provide both English and Spanish speaking patients with needed information.
5. Assist the medical team with Spanish language interpretation in a timely fashion.
6. Ensure the accuracy of Spanish language interpretations to RHCC.
7. Assist in the interpreting of RHCC literature, calls, and requests regarding interpretation in a timely manner.
8. Schedule patient appointments with the Corporation’s Health Care Providers.
9. Call patients prior to appointments and follow-up with patients that are no-shows.
10. Advise each patient of the Sliding Fee Program and other discount programs.
11. Actively advice patients of balances due, collect, and receive patient fees.
12. Verify and update patient’s accounts.
13. Maintain the confidentiality of the Robeson Health Care Corporation and the patients/clients that the corporation serves.
14. Maintain HIPAA regulations and controls.
15. Refer all calls regarding Medicaid Eligibility or Medicaid assistance to Robeson County Department of Social Services.
16. Record and electronically send to the provider patients requests, messages and refill requests.
17. Accurately scan and attach medical records to a patient’s medical record.
SAFETY OFFICER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Survey the facility for any safety hazards daily.
2. Report safety hazards to the Director of Facility Services.
3. Conduct emergency drills (Fire and Tornado) monthly.
4. Complete facility safety inspection checklist and submit to the Director of Facility Services monthly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be fluent to in both English and Spanish languages, oral and written.
2. Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
3. Two years of experience working with the EMR system EPIC is preferred.
4. Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
5. Must have adequate work transportation that may require work rotation to other RHCC facilities.
