Position Overview
Roberts’ Tree Experts is hiring an experienced Tree Climber to perform technical removals, fine pruning, and storm work using rope-and-saddle systems. You’ll partner closely with a skilled ground crew and bucket operators to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to spec.
Responsibilities
- Climb using SRS/DdRT for removals and pruning (spiked and spurless as appropriate).
- Set safe, efficient work plans: tie-in points, redirects, work positioning, and escape routes.
- Execute precision rigging (natural crotch, friction devices, speed lines, mechanical advantage systems).
- Run saws aloft and aloft lowering operations; communicate hand signals and radio calls to ground crew.
- Perform crown cleaning, reductions, weight relief over structures, and storm-damage mitigation to ANSI A300.
- Conduct daily gear inspections; maintain ropes, saddles, saws, and rigging equipment.
- Assist with aerial rescue drills and support bucket operations when needed.
- Uphold Roberts’ Tree Experts safety standards, site cleanliness, and customer professionalism on every job.
Requirements
- Professional climbing experience required (tree care/utility). Comfortable with SRS/DdRT, basic to intermediate rigging, and chainsaw use aloft.
- Working knowledge of ANSI Z133 safety standards.
- Physical ability to climb and work outdoors year-round in all weather.
- Strong situational awareness around power lines, structures, and targets.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, not required).
- Punctual, team-oriented, and committed to safe production.
Nice to Have (Plus)
- ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Tree Worker Climber Specialist, or TCIA certifications.
- EHAP, CPR/First Aid.
- Storm response experience and aerial rescue proficiency.
