Senior Back-End Software Engineer
We are looking for someone who is passionate about software and creating the very best
consumer application with an exceptional user experience that is built to be performant and scalable.
The ideal candidate will be current in their understanding of modern application development, scalable
web applications, and has a proven history of developing great products.
To be successful in this position, you must be a dynamic back-end engineer who has a proven record of
architecting and delivering dynamic and complex applications. The ideal candidate will have experience
in JavaScript, SQL, Java, Scala, REST/GraphQL, MongoDB/DynamoDB, Docker, and AWS. You must
have an aptitude for learning new programming languages and frameworks. Being a team player and
effective communicator with a thirst for mentoring junior team members is a must have for this role.
Experience using agile development practices is critical. You will build-out a modern web architecture to
enable us to more quickly ship new features into production at scale. We are currently a small team (under 10 ppl) and our successes come from strong collaboration, an open mindset, and a good work ethic, which arecritical in the early stages of a project to define requirements and set expectations for our product.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science degree preferred but not required)
3-5 years of professional development experience
2 years of varied back-end development experience e.g. Node.JS, Python, Golang, Java, Scala
3 years building, delivering, and supporting high-quality, performant web applications
Proficiency in TDD, writing unit tests, automation, and performing code reviews
Expert level knowledge of HTML/CSS (all kinds) and JavaScript
Familiarity with AWS and building large scalable web experiences
Good written and verbal communicator
Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete
design implications.
Preferred experience
Analytical and strong quantitative skills, ideally for finance or fitness applications
Extending and maintaining complex systems
Building RESTful API services and clients
Serverless and full stack development
Working in a very supportive and collaborative team environment that values your ideas,
