Roberto Clemente Charter School (RCCS) is seeking a passionate, energetic, and dedicated Boys Basketball Assistant Coach to support our high school basketball program. About the Role

The Basketball Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to deliver a competitive and student-centered program that aligns with PIAA regulations and RCCS policies. The ideal candidate is committed to sportsmanship, academic accountability, and providing a safe and supportive athletic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and leading practices, skill development, and game preparation
• Teach basketball fundamentals, team systems, and position-specific techniques
• Support student-athletes with attendance expectations, conduct standards, and academic accountability
• Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices, games, and team activities
• Help maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities
• Follow all safety, injury-reporting, and emergency procedures
• Participate in approved off-season activities (open gyms, clinics, etc.)
• Model professionalism and uphold the RCCS mission and values

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basketball fundamentals and experience with athlete development
• Prior coaching or competitive playing experience (high school, club, or college) preferred
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• Ability to supervise, motivate, and support student-athletes
• Required: Ability to obtain and provide all mandated Pennsylvania school clearances and health documents (see below)

Mandatory Clearances & Requirements

Applicants must be able to obtain, pay for, and provide all required Pennsylvania credentials before starting the position, including:

• Act 34 (PA Criminal History Clearance)
• Act 114 (FBI Fingerprinting Clearance)
• Act 151 (Child Abuse Clearance)
• Act 168 (Sexual Misconduct/Employment History Disclosure)
• Recent negative TB test as required by the PA School Code

Candidates unable or unwilling to secure these documents will not be eligible for hire.

Additional Requirements

• CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before the season)
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (if assisting with athlete transportation)
• Ability to stand, demonstrate skills, and supervise activities for extended periods

Schedule & Compensation

• Season: Winter 2025–2026 (practices, games, and approved off-season activities as scheduled)
• Compensation: $1,500 stipend, paid for the full coaching assignment according to the approved schedule
• Evening, weekend, and travel requirements are expected
