Overview
We are seeking a Criminal Defense Investigator to support a high-volume defense firm. This role is essential to case preparation and requires strong skills in evidence review, witness interviews, and field investigation. The investigator will work closely with the attorney and must maintain the highest level of confidentiality on all matters. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently on serious criminal cases.
Duties
- Review discovery, police reports, and camera footage
- Conduct witness interviews and neighborhood canvassing
- Locate and secure evidence relevant to defense strategy
- Prepare concise investigative summaries for attorney review
- Work closely with the attorney on active case preparation
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all ethical/legal standards
Requirements
- Prior investigative, journalism, military, or related experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in varied environments and interact with the public
- High discretion, reliability, and ethical judgment
- Able to work independently and manage assignments with limited supervision
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
