The company is uniquely situated in the market because it is large enough to serve many locations in Texas while retaining the family-owned feel that started it all in 1979.

About the Position:

The role will give the successful candidate a view of two step distribution from both operations and sales perspectives. The individual will work within the warehouse, branch counter, purchasing, sales demand planning, pricing exercise and meet key customers to hear the importance of the relationship between distribution and their customer base.

Weeks 1-3 (Branch Warehouse):

  • Collaborate with our warehouse team to gain hands-on experience in receiving, inspecting, and accurately storing incoming inventory.
  • Assist with shipping processes, including order picking, packing, and preparing shipments for delivery.
  • Learn the intricacies of bin placement and organization to optimize warehouse efficiency.

Week 4 (Seguin Distribution Center):

  • Work closely with our Seguin Distribution Center team to plan and execute weekly route shipments to various locations.
  • Play a role in coordinating direct shipments to our valued customers, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.

Week 5 (Purchasing):

  • Contribute to our purchasing department's efforts by participating in planning activities for the upcoming 60 days.
  • Provide support to the warehouse team in receiving and shipping operations, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained accurately.

Weeks 6-7 (Branch Counter Training):

  • Gain valuable insights into customer interactions by working at the branch counter.
  • Learn order management processes, handle customer inquiries, and manage branch transfers efficiently.

Week 8 (Territory Manager Ride-Along):

  • Shadow Territory Managers on their routes to meet key customers and gain firsthand experience in building and nurturing customer relationships.
  • Attend dealer sales meetings to understand the dynamics of dealer partnerships and sales strategies.

Weeks 9-10:

  • Dive into warranty processing procedures, ensuring that customer claims are handled with care and efficiency.
  • Assist in pricing management tasks, contributing to the success of our Fall Promo Flyer campaign.
  • Play a crucial role in the placement and organization of parts inventory.

Weeks 11-12:

  • Engage in departmental projects and tasks that provide a deeper understanding of our operations and sales processes.
  • Collaborate with team members on special assignments aimed at enhancing various aspects of our business.

Week 13 (Capstone Project):

  • Work with a team of interns to complete a capstone project that addresses a real-world challenge or opportunity within our organization.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on the project's findings, solutions, and recommendations.
  • Participate in a dinner with our management team to discuss your internship experience and insights.
  • Participation in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Meetings (First Week of July):
  • Attend our S&OP meetings, where you'll gain insight into the strategic planning and decision-making processes that drive our business forward.
  • Contribute to discussions and learn how data and forecasts inform our operational strategies and customer-focused initiatives.

Qualifications, Attributes, Education, and/or Experience:

  • Working towards bachelor’s degree in Industrial Distribution, Marketing, or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in mathematics and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Proven sales acumen.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks.
  • Prior experience with job pricing.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Computer Skills:

  • Excellent computer written skills including high proficiency in the use of MS Office with emphasis on Excel and Power point.
