Staff Accountant
ROBERT-JAMES SALES, INC. is a growing distributor of stainless-steel pipe, fittings and valves. Headquartered in Buffalo, NY with 14 additional locations across the country. We are expanding our accounting department and seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our team.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant supports the daily accounting operations of the organization and is capable of handling a wide range of accounting tasks. This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all financial transactions while providing analytical support to management. The position works closely with the Assistant Controller, HR, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team, and reports directly to the Controller. RJS reserves the rights to modify or change job duties at any time based on business needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage sales tax reporting and file monthly, quarterly, and annual returns for approximately 25 states; research and ensure compliance with applicable sales tax laws
· Serve as backup with to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Assistant Controller, and Human Resources functions
· Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including accounts payable close
· Help prepare daily and weekly reports, post journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and corrections
· Help Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
· Work on customer with discrepancy resolutions, collection calls etc.
· Analyzes and summarizes financial information in a timely matter to meet all monthly reporting deadlines.
· Investigate variances, identify discrepancies, and communicate findings clearly and professionally to customers or Controller.
· Prepare documentation for external auditors for year end.
· Will perform other work duties as they arise.

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
· 2 or 3 years of accounting experience
· Experience with journal entries, general ledger accounts, reconciliations, AR & AP
· Experience with payroll processing (preferred)
Physical Demands:
· Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and communicate
· Occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.

Salary Range:
· $1,200/week to $1,400/week based on experience
Pay: $1,200.00 - $1,400.00 per week
