Robert James Enterprises — Marshfield, MO 65706
Full-time preferred; part-time considered for experienced applicants
Pay:
$18–$22 per hour
Robert James Enterprises has manufactured aftermarket semi-truck products since 1983. We’re looking for an experienced production sewing operator who takes pride in consistent, accurate work and contributes to a dependable team.
Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines in a production environment is required. Home-sewing experience alone does not meet this requirement.
What you’ll do
- Operate Consew 205RB-style industrial walking-foot sewing machines.
- Apply edge trim using a raw-edge folder/binder.
- Sew zippers and attach hook-and-loop fasteners (Velcro).
- Follow approved samples and production instructions for correct placement, orientation, and construction.
- Inspect your work for secure stitching, properly attached binding, and correct component placement.
- Maintain a steady production pace while meeting quality standards.
- Identify and report sewing problems before they affect additional products.
- Keep your work area organized and follow safe operating procedures.
What we’re looking for
- Previous industrial production sewing experience.
- Familiarity with industrial walking-foot machines; experience with comparable brands is welcome.
- Hands-on experience sewing zippers and applying trim with a binder/folder.
- Strong attention to detail throughout repetitive work.
- Ability to follow instructions, recognize mistakes, and communicate when something is wrong.
- Dependable attendance, a good attitude, and the ability to work well with others.
What we offer
- Day-shift work.
- Paid time off.
- Casual work attire.
- Opportunities to grow with an established manufacturer.
Interview process
Your first interview will include a brief hands-on sewing assessment using one of our industrial machines. Please describe your relevant experience and answer all three application questions when applying.

Application Question(s):
- You notice problems while applying binding. What do you do?
After binding six products, you inspect your work. The trim looks straight from above, but underneath, the stitching has missed the bottom edge of the binding in several places. You also find loose thread loops underneath another section.
What problems do you see, what would you check to find the causes, and what would you do with the six products before continuing?
- Tell us about your industrial production sewing experience- Where did you work, approximately how long, and what products and materials did you sew? Describe the industrial machines you operated and which of these operations you personally performed: applying trim with a binder/folder, installing zippers, and sewing hook-and-loop fasteners. If you haven’t performed one of these operations, please say so.
