Job Summary:

The Project Controller is responsible for performing all cost and revenue control; including revenue tracking, billing, forecasting, scheduling and estimating associated with their assigned projects. The Project Controller provides reports and recommendations to the Project Manager on project status and potential corrective actions.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Prepare detailed schedules based off proposals and estimates.
  • Develop and maintain project execution schedules.
  • Develop weekly analysis of budget and schedule performance on active projects.
  • Provide costs and schedule forecasts and estimates at completion.
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendents with equipment tracking and calling of rental equipment.
  • Review project progress in person daily, track and report daily progress.
  • Gather and maintain documentation during the project for inclusion in project turnover package.
  • Meet weekly with the customer to provide project updates.
  • Issue and track project change orders.
  • Set up, maintain and control budgets in ERP system.
  • Set up and maintain project cost control reports within ERP system.
  • Provide weekly reports to senior management when projects deviate from budget or schedule.
  • Review daily time tickets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Issue purchase orders for project materials.
  • Track material receipts and report variances.
  • Track project expenditures and committed costs.
  • Track and report craft productivity.
  • Implement contracting strategy, track and schedule any work sub-contracted.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by Project Engineering Manager, including travel and field assignments required to carry out assigned tasks.
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience:
  • At least (2-4) years of work experience in Oil/Gas/Petrochemical Construction desired.
  • Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of supervisors and employees. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and in team.
  • Detailed MS Project and Excel knowledge.
  • Firm understanding of Earned Value Management Systems.
  • Understanding of construction practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and workplace hazard identification.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record substantiated by a DMV printout.
  • Completion of substance abuse screening upon offer of employment.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight on occasion.
