What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Preparer position at Robert Half?
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review individual, partnership, corporate, and nonprofit tax returns with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Organize and manually process client-provided financial data, including schedules C, F, and E.
• Collaborate with team members to proof and verify tax documents before final submission.
• Input financial data into tax preparation software systems, ensuring all calculations are correct.
• Assist with social security tax calculations and other specific tax-related computations.
• Work on a variety of returns, including W-2s, partnership returns, S-Corp filings, and farmer-related returns.
• Maintain strong communication with clients to gather necessary documentation and clarify any discrepancies.
• Utilize accounting software systems like Lacerte, QuickBooks, and others to streamline tax preparation processes.
• Stay updated on tax regulations and practices to ensure compliance and provide accurate advice to clients.
• Support team members in meeting deadlines, particularly during peak tax seasons.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in tax preparation, including working on individual and corporate returns.
• Strong understanding of schedules C, F, and E, with the ability to handle complex tax scenarios.
• Proficiency in calculating social security taxes and other specific computations.
• Experience with accounting software such as Lacerte, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
• Ability to manually organize and process client financial data with precision.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in all tax filings.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tax preparation processes and systems.
