Tax Preparer- Business and Indiividual

We are looking for a skilled Tax Preparer to join our small established firm based in Berkeley, California.

In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will be responsible for preparing tax returns for both individual clients and local businesses, including corporations and non-profits. This role offers a flexible schedule and is ideal for someone with prior experience in tax preparation who thrives in a collaborative team environment.

This position is 100% on site in Berkeley, California.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and timely tax returns for individuals, corporations, and non-profit organizations.

• Utilize Lacerte Tax Software to streamline tax preparation processes.

• Conduct thorough reviews of financial records and documentation to ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations.

• Collaborate with clients to gather necessary information and clarify tax-related inquiries.

• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to provide informed guidance.

• Assist in resolving tax issues and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.

• Work closely with team members in a small office environment to maintain a positive and productive atmosphere.

• Manage multiple client accounts with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Provide recommendations to clients on tax-saving strategies and opportunities.

• Ensure all documentation is organized and filed appropriately for future reference.

• At least 2 years of experience in tax preparation for individuals and businesses.
• Proficiency in Lacerte Tax Software or similar tax preparation tools.
• Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
• Familiarity with preparing complex tax returns, including corporate and non-profit filings.
• Degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
• Ability to work on-site in Berkeley, California, with a consistent schedule.
