Sr. Insurance Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Insurance Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Sacramento, California. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the organization’s accounting functions. Responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with guidelines set by the California Department of Insurance.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations by managing specific filings and maintaining accurate records.
• Execute month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliation and detailed financial reporting.
• Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the accuracy of financial data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address accounting issues and contribute to seamless financial close processes.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies to maintain financial integrity.
• Handle journal entries and ensure proper documentation for all accounting transactions.
• Perform bank reconciliations to verify accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Support ongoing audits by providing necessary documentation and resolving inquiries.
• Analyze and improve existing accounting procedures to enhance efficiency.
• Proven experience in month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards for insurance accounting.
• Ability to establish and monitor effective internal controls.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively across teams.
