Sr. Accountant

We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Greenwich, Connecticut. This is a long-term contract position within the non-profit sector, offering an opportunity to contribute to impactful financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities and a passion for ensuring accurate financial management and reporting.

Responsibilities:
• Manage and supervise the daily operations of the accounting department, including overseeing month-end and year-end processes.
• Prepare and review general ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Handle accounts payable processes efficiently while monitoring fixed assets and capital grants activity.
• Conduct variance analysis on revenues and expenditures to support budgeting and forecasting efforts.
• Produce comprehensive financial reports and statements for management and the Board of Directors.
• Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate smooth audits and compliance reviews.
• Ensure timely completion and submission of annual 1099 forms.
• Implement and enforce proper accounting policies, methods, and principles.
• Collaborate with team members to address additional duties and tasks as needed.
• Proven experience in non-profit accounting, with a solid understanding of related principles and practices.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and data analysis.
• Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to convey information clearly.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all financial matters.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software applications.
• Familiarity with general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
