Procurement Specialist

Robert Half is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join and play a vital role in our client's operations running smoothly.

This position supports purchasing, inventory management, and asset control for a government municipality's maintenance and operations divisions — ensuring supplies, equipment, and services are acquired efficiently, cost-effectively, and in full compliance with public procurement policies.

You’ll collaborate with the Finance, Parks, and Operations departments, manage vendor relationships, and maintain accurate records of assets and inventory.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintain and reconcile perpetual inventory and fixed asset records.
• Enter, update, and track all parts, materials, and asset information in the inventory system.
• Initiate and monitor purchase orders, ensuring timely procurement and delivery.
• Research and recommend cost-effective purchasing options and alternatives.
• Enforce purchasing policies and procedures and advise staff on compliance.
• Communicate regularly with vendors and internal departments regarding order status and fulfillment.
• Maintain stock levels of supplies and materials; coordinate replenishment as needed.
• Oversee the fuel management system, including data entry and issue tracking.
• Assist with emergency operations during major storm events or declared emergencies.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of public procurement regulations, fixed asset management, and bookkeeping practices.
• Experience coordinating with multiple departments and managing vendor relationships.
