Patent Paralegal

Our client an elite law firm is seeking a skilled Patent Paralegal to join the IP team in Philadelphia. This role requires an experienced and detail-oriented individual who can independently manage patent portfolios and ensure compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys and clients.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of U.S. and international patent matters, ensuring all deadlines and compliance requirements are met.

• Conduct regular reviews of patent dockets, prioritize urgent tasks, and coordinate timely responses.

• Prepare and file U.S. patent applications, including national stage filings under 371.

• Communicate with clients, attorneys, and foreign associates to address prosecution matters and procedural questions.

• Research patent procedural issues and develop effective action plans for resolution.

• Maintain and organize patent files in accordance with firm and client guidelines.

• Mentor and provide training to less experienced paralegals and administrative staff to support their growth.

• Assist attorneys in delivering exceptional client service and managing administrative patent-related tasks.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Intellectual Property law with a focus on patent prosecution.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. and international patent procedures, including filing practices.
• Experience with national stage filings under 371 and related processes preferred.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with attorneys and staff.
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision.
