What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estate Planning Paralegal position at Robert Half?
Robert Half Legal is partnering with a mid-sized law firm located in Oak Brook that's seeking to hire an Estate Planning Paralegal with at least 5 years of experience to join their team. This Estate Planning Paralegal will be supporting attorneys handling estate planning, estate administration, and business succession planning for moderate to high net-worth clients. Experience with gift and estate tax filings is highly preferred. This position is paying between $70-85K plus a yearly bonus. In addition, the firm offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401k (3.5% match), LT Disability Insurance, and more.
Estate Planning Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of estate and trust administration, including preparing and submitting probate pleadings and other legal documents
- Assist attorneys in drafting and revising estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
- Gather and organize asset information, prepare inventories, and create detailed accountings
- Facilitate the transfer of assets and distributions to beneficiaries by liaising with financial institutions and other parties
- Coordinate the transfer of assets to newly established trusts, prepare required forms and correspondence, and communicate with financial institutions to ensure smooth and accurate funding
- Assist in compiling and summarizing financial and asset data required for federal and state estate tax returns (Forms 706 and applicable state returns)
- Support the preparation of federal gift tax returns (Form 709) by organizing relevant documentation and data
- Utilize any relevant software or tools to streamline processes related to estate and gift tax preparation

- Bachelor or Associate's preferred; Paralegal certificate preferred
- 5 years of experience handling estate planning and estate & trust administration
- Experience preparing estate and gift tax filings highly preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
