Data Migration Consultant

Robert Half is seeking a Microsoft 365 Migration Consultant to support a retail and wholesale e-commerce organization (Shopify-based) undergoing an urgent transition from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. This remote consulting engagement involves leading the email, workflow, and data migration while maintaining business continuity through the busy pre-holiday season.

Schedule: Full-time; may require occasional after-hours support during migration cutover

Location: Remote

Job Responsibilities

• Assess the current Google Workspace environment (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) and identify dependencies tied to Shopify, QuickBooks Online (QBO), and EDI workflows
• Develop and execute a low-risk migration plan to Microsoft 365 (Exchange, OneDrive, Teams) ensuring no loss of order data or downtime
• Recommend migration tools (BitTitan, SkyKick, or MigrationWiz) and licensing options for Microsoft 365
• Oversee or perform the migration process while maintaining workflow continuity and IT security best practices
• Implement 2FA/MFA and validate MX record and data integrity during coexistence phase
• Train and support staff on Microsoft 365 applications and ensure successful post-migration adoption
• Collaborate with internal IT lead on long-term roadmap, security compliance, and post-migration stabilization

• Proven hands-on experience migrating Google Workspace → Microsoft 365 (Exchange, OneDrive, Teams)
• Deep understanding of email coexistence, MX record changes, and data integrity validation
• Experience supporting e-commerce or wholesale operations (Shopify, EDI, QuickBooks Online)
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration skills (licensing, user setup, security, compliance)
• Ability to work independently and deliver rapid assessments and implementation plans

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience creating end-user training or quick-start guides for Microsoft tools
• Familiarity with Azure AD / SSO / MFA setup
• Prior consulting experience during high-volume or seasonal retail operations

• Clear communicator; able to coordinate with business users and leadership
• Problem-solver with a bias for quick, practical execution
