Supported by a talented team, we are seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee critical accounting functions, contribute to financial accuracy, and support strategic decision-making in collaboration with senior leadership.
Reporting Relationship:
The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Controller and lead a team of three accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Close:
- Lead and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end general ledger close processes with a commitment to timeliness and accuracy.
- Ensure all journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules are prepared and reviewed in accordance with company policies and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Financial Statement Preparation:
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
- Develop comprehensive variance analyses for financial results to support internal review and external reporting.
Cash Flow Management:
- Oversee the preparation of the cash flow statement to ensure accurate representation of operating, investing, and financing activities.
- Provide actionable insights into cash flow trends to help drive financial planning decisions.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Directly manage, mentor, and oversee the work of three accounting staff members, providing training and development opportunities to build a high-performing team.
- Collaborate with staff to establish goals, address challenges, and maintain accountability for timely completion of responsibilities.
Process Improvements:
- Identify and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations, particularly within the QuickBooks Online platform.
- Develop and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Audit Support and Compliance:
- Assist the Controller in managing audits, preparing audit schedules, and providing necessary documentation to external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments to understand the nuances of the company’s revenue streams and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Support the Controller and executive leadership in strategic planning and forecasting activities.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including strong expertise in general ledger close and financial statement preparation.
- Experience preparing detailed cash flow statements and managing multi-revenue stream accounting preferred.
Systems Proficiency: Knowledge of QuickBooks Online is preferred. Experience with related tools or ERP systems is a plus.
Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a small team of accounting professionals.
Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
Analytical Mindset: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to develop actionable insights from financial data.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with cross-functional teams and senior management.
