Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and reporting for a dynamic organization near Laconia, New Hampshire. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to manage multiple entities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while supervising a small team. The role requires a hands-on approach to accounting processes and provides flexibility in work hours.

Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.

• Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate financial data reporting.

• Lead financial audits, including audits of federally funded programs, ensuring compliance with regulations.

• Supervise and support two direct reports responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

• Prepare budgets for state-funded programs and manage federal grant allocations.

• Administer accounting processes for multiple entities, including expense tracking and reimbursement.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable financial standards and regulations.

• Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management.
• Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and account reconciliation.
• Proficiency in preparing and managing budgets for state and federal programs.
• Familiarity with payroll systems, especially Trivantus, and pension systems like NH Retirement.
• Ability to supervise and mentor team members handling AP, AR, and payroll.
• Experience with accounting systems specific to housing or similar industries.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
