Accountant - Accounts Payable

We are looking for a skilled Accountant with expertise in accounts payable to join our client's team in Maplewood, Minnesota. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to manage critical financial processes while contributing to the overall efficiency of the organization. Responsibilities:

• Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice entry, coding, approval tracking, and payment processing.

• Reconcile accounts payable and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Perform credit card reconciliations and ensure all transactions are supported with proper documentation.

• Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and aligning records with the general ledger.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to address invoicing and payment issues efficiently.

• Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for all accounts payable transactions.

• Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance with internal controls.

• Contribute to the overall accounting operations by assisting with accounts receivable and bank reconciliations as needed.

• Ensure the accuracy of financial records and uphold company policies during all accounting processes.

• Provide insights and recommendations to streamline accounts payable workflows.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable, general ledger, or related accounting functions.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of general ledger principles, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with vendors and internal teams.
• Experience with accounts receivable and bank reconciliations is a plus.
• Ability to work independently while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
