What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3D Modeler position at Robert Half?
Responsibilities:
• Create detailed and accurate 3D models using SolidWorks to support manufacturing design projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project specifications and industry standards.
• Apply mechanical design drafting practices, including adherence to GD& T standards and ASME Y14.5 – 2009.
• Utilize knowledge of plastic injection molding, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication in design processes.
• Conduct mechanical engineering calculations to validate design accuracy and performance.
• Maintain and manage design files within SolidWorks PDM systems and Windchill, where applicable.
• Develop and refine designs for manufacturability, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation and presentations using Office tools.
• Stay updated on advancements in 3D modeling software and manufacturing technologies to improve design processes.
• Associate degree or equivalent in Mechanical Drafting, Design, or Engineering Technology.
• 3 plus years of recent experience in a drafting or 3D modeling role, with extensive use of SolidWorks.
• SolidWorks expertise, with certification considered a plus.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM systems and Windchill is advantageous.
• Proficiency in mechanical design drafting practices and GD& T standards.
• Strong skills in Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with design for plastic injection molding, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
• Ability to perform mechanical engineering calculations is desirable.
