Grade 6 Math Teacher

Seeking applicants to instruct students in foundational and pre-algebra math concepts, foster critical thinking, and support academic and personal growth in a structured, engaging classroom environment. This role requires a balance of subject expertise, instructional skill, classroom management, and interpersonal engagement, ensuring students develop both mathematically and personally while preparing for higher-level math courses in subsequent grades. Key Responsibilities *Instruction and Curriculum Delivery: Teach 6th grade math concepts including integers, decimals, fractions, ratios, proportions, area, perimeter, volume, and introductory pre-algebra topics such as linear and quadratic equations *Employ a variety of teaching methods, including direct instruction, structured investigations, and open exploration, to accommodate diverse learning styles *Integrate research-based instructional strategies and ensure alignment with school-approved curriculum standards *Student Development: Promote problem-solving, logical reasoning, and flexible thinking skills *Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs *Support social-emotional development and foster a growth mindset, encouraging curiosity and higher-level thinking *Classroom Management: Maintain an orderly, safe, and interactive learning environment *Enforce class rules and school policies consistently, while modeling respect, responsibility, and ethical behavior *Encourage student engagement, ownership of learning, and collaboration among peers *Collaboration and Professional Development: Work closely with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student growth *Participate in curriculum development, professional growth programs, and school-wide initiatives such as AVID or CASEL competencies *Contribute to a collaborative learning community and reflect on teaching practices for continuous improvement Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics or a related field Proven track record of effective teaching and classroom management Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly Experience or interest in classical education, traditional pedagogy, or student-centered learning approaches Ability to integrate a Christian worldview or school-specific philosophy, if applicable Character and professionalism: serve as a role model, demonstrating integrity, patience, and respect for students and colleagues Additional Expectations Teach multiple sections of middle school math courses as assigned Document student progress and maintain accurate records Engage in mentoring, advising, or pastoral roles where required, supporting students’ personal and spiritual growth Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities
