Teacher's Assistant (Paraprofessional)

RFK Community Alliance has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Teacher Assistant/Aide to join our team in Springfield, MA. Who We Seek We seek a dynamic individual to be part of our team at our school in Springfield, MA. The Robert F. Kennedy Academy is a therapeutic day school that provides educational and clinical services to students with diverse abilities and disabilities, including those in the emotional, psychiatric, and learning realms. The school’s curriculum and support services assist students in reaching milestones such as graduation, the transition to post-secondary educational and vocational opportunities, or the return to public school. A small school by design, RFK Academy creates individualized learning opportunities and accommodation while establishing a community of learners among students for whom connections to school have often been challenging. Responsibilities: Assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating daily lesson plans. Assist the teacher in providing classroom instruction necessary in order to help each student meet the goals -established in their Individualized Education Program. Follow and actively participate in the implementation of the Behavior Management System (including the possibility of physical management) at the school and program. Develop a team atmosphere with the classroom teacher and other teacher’s assistants. Assist and actively support the specialist teachers in vocational education and gym. Specific Qualifications: A High School diploma is required. B.A. preferred. Must be 21 years of age.
