The Robert C. Byrd Clinic, on the campus of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, is seeking a full-time Nursing Supervisor for our family practice department. 

Position Purpose:

Assist physicians and other nurses in the care of patients in a clinic setting. Provide leadership and supervision of nursing staff in assigned area. Apply skills and techniques of registered nursing or practical nursing. Function as an integral member of the interdisciplinary care team in providing the highest quality of care to patients.

Position Qualifications: 

Graduate of an accredited RN program or School of Practical Nursing. Excellent communication skills and understanding of patient health care. Excellent computer skills required. Demonstrated leadership skills.

Experience:  

Two years of experience as an RN or an LPN in a primary care setting is preferred. Supervision experience preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid West Virginia RN License or LPN License; Current Basic Life Support Certification

Reports to: Director of Clinical Services and/or Assistant Director of Nursing 

Supervises:  Assigned nursing staff 

Job Requirements:

  • This is a working supervisor position that includes working on the floor and providing direct care to patients in either an RN or LPN capacity 
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Collaborates with other pod leaders to request and provide adequate coverage for patient care
  • Schedule staffing to meet changing workload needs. Resolve scheduling conflicts
  • Monitor patient flow and troubleshoot the delivery of patient care
  • Monitor employee attendance and review time off requests using ADP; review and approve employee timecards within established payroll deadlines
  • Identify training needs for staff and facilitate staff development. Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of training, orientation, and education programs
  • Address employee performance issues in an effective and timely manner
  • Hold staff accountable to RCBC policies and protocols; treat all team members fairly; seek input from CNO and HR regarding the disciplinary process
  • Foster cooperation and teamwork among employees; address conflict in a timely and professional manner
  • Participate in the interviewing and selection process for new employees
  • In consultation with the CNO and HR, evaluate employees fairly and effectively on an annual or as-needed basis; complete 90-day reviews for new hires; discuss career goals
  • Ensure safety by making sure that daily checklists are complete (such as narcotic count, crash cart, and defibrillator checks) and all daily, weekly, and monthly logs from various processes (such as urine logs, temp logs, equipment cleaning, etc.) are completed in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned
