Nature of Work |
The purpose of this position is to provide quality instruction to students in a middle-grades learning environment, guiding them to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal. |

Duties and Responsibilities |
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. • Instruct and monitor students in use of learning materials and equipment. • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school. • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development. • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development. • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments. • Perform other related duties as assigned. |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
• Ability to communicate clearly in written and electronic formats; as well as; in-person. • Ability to use a computer or other electronic devices for the purpose of communication, instruction, data recording, and location of information. • Ability to collaborate with district staff to identify and solve problems. • Ability to demonstrate patience and compassion when dealing with students and/or parents and their personal and educational needs. • Skill in identifying student learning and personal needs and collaborating with other professionals to provide needed resources or interventions. |

Education and Experience Requirements |
Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a current NC Teaching Certification in Middle Grades Social Studies. |
