Position Title: Elementary School Psychologist
Qualifications:
- Meets criteria for employment within a CT public school as a School Psychologist
- Degree from an accredidated college or university in Psychology
Reports to: Director of Pupil Services and/or designee
Evaluator: Director of Pupil Services and/or designee
Compensation: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.
Work Year: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education. Start Date: August 18, 2026
Responsibilities:
- Provides social skills instruction and reinforcement within both formal (i.e. small-group) and informal (i.e. activity-based) structures
- Observes, collects data, and evaluates (as appropriate) students’ progress toward achieving IEP goals and objectives
- Implements effective behavioral strategies and techniques for the purpose of facilitating appropriate social interactions between identified students and their typical peers
- Works with staff to modify and accommodate students with special needs to facilitate their access to activities, field trips, recreational opportunities, etc.
- Supervises paraprofessional staff to support student participation (as necessary)
- Performs other duties as appropriate and assigned by the Director of Pupil Services or his/her Designee
