We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team. Responsibilities
- Perform detailed psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and patient history assessments
- Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements
- Conduct therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches tailored to individual needs
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Monitor patient progress through follow-up visits, adjusting treatment plans as necessary
- Document all clinical encounters accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks
- Educate patients and families about treatment options, medication administration, and coping strategies
Requirements
- Valid Virginia Nurse Practitioner license with current board certification
- Experience working with diverse populations, including children, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology, including medication prescribing regulations under DEA guidelines with current DEA license
- Strong clinical assessment skills with experience in behavioral health, trauma centers, or hospital settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms for remote patient care delivery
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and engage patients
