Assistant Girls Basketball Coach At Glenvar High School
Glenvar High School is a VHSL Class 2A School, and a member of the Three Rivers District (TRD) and Region 2C. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.
The Assistant Girls Basketball Coach will coordinate all aspects of the GHS JV Girls Basketball program, including student-athlete development and academic progress, game day operations, gym maintenance and prep, organizing and leading practices, training sessions, workouts, and budget management.
Will cooperate with the school Principal and/or Athletic Director in the planning, scheduling, and conducting of activities associated with the JV girls' basketball program. Oversees 10-15 student-athletes and desired assistant coaches.

Qualifications And Job Responsibilities
- Proven integrity, leadership, and ability to develop a vision and mission for the program and the ability to communicate those to others.
- Plan and conduct safe and effective practices and teach the fundamentals of basketball.
- Responsible for ensuring that the GHS Girls Basketball team meets all requirements of the VHSL.
- Responsible for the safety of athletes during practices, tournaments, and travel to away events.
- Planning and delivery of pre-season Parents' Meeting and post-season Team Award recognition events.
- Manage team equipment and plan for future needs.
- Manage the team budget and plan & coordinate fundraising (as required).
- Maintain the Team Roster and validate the team's Master Eligibility List.
- Provide regular communications to parents/guardians regarding practice schedule and competitions.
- Provide clear expectations of conduct and communicate team rules to athletes and parents.
- Motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.
- Experience as a high school or collegiate basketball player and/or travel basketball coach or referee.
- High ideals, good habits, and attitudes in behavior, and are able to demand the same of students.
- Support all teams and direct the girls' basketball program in harmony with the athletic department.
- Ability to work with Glenvar Middle School, Roanoke County Parks and Recreation, Glenvar Youth Boosters, and other running organizations, to grow interest in the sport and recruit for their program.
