Job Summary
Masters-level clinical/trainer to assist schools in implementing universal, trauma-informed practices that prevent and/or mitigate the effects of trauma for students with Social Emotional Disturbances (SED) or at risk of developing mental health or substance use disorder. The SEL program provides support and consultation to teachers and school personnel in implementing prevention/intervention practices; training and education to school personnel in behavioral health topics and trauma-informed approaches; individual and/or group interventions and psychoeducation to students to develop positive coping and de-escalation strategies; mental health/behavioral health screenings and assessments; referrals for services and supports; and liaison services to foster positive relationships between the school and families. This position will be funded with federal funds on a yearly basis with the possibility of an extension.
Essential Duties
- Provide training around Multi-Tiered Systems of Support related to SEL.
- Increase and improve access to culturally competent and developmentally appropriate school and community-based behavioral/mental health services.
- Develop and Provide Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) training to district faculty and staff
- Conduct outreach and engagement with school-aged youth and their families to increase awareness and identification of mental/behavioral health issues and promote wellness.
- Connect families, schools, and communities to increase engagement and involvement in planning and implementing school and community programs for school-aged youth.
- Help school-aged youth develop skills that will promote resilience and positive behaviors; avert development of mental and behavioral health disorders; and prevent youth violence.
- Equip school personnel with the ability to immediately respond to the needs of youth who may be exhibiting behavioral/psychological signs of a severity indicating the need for clinical intervention.
- Participate in relevant team meetings to provide input feedback in areas related to SEL.
