Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to champion workplace safety and environmental compliance across our transportation operations. In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and oversee safety programs that promote a secure and healthy work environment. Your expertise will ensure adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards FMCSA and DOT regulations, environmental management systems, hazardous materials regulations, and other regulatory/legal compliance standards in production. By fostering a culture of safety, you will help minimize risks, prevent injuries, and support continuous improvement in transportation risk factors and operational practices. Duties
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs aligned with FMCSA, DOT OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and workplace audits to identify potential risks related to hazardous materials, environmental compliance, and occupational health.
- Lead incident investigations by performing root cause analysis, preparing detailed report writing, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide ongoing training and development for employees on safety regulations, hazard recognition, emergency procedures such accident response, and transportation management systems.
- Ensure compliance with transportation standards by monitoring regulatory updates related to DOT, FMCSA & OSHA, hazardous materials regulations, environmental health policies, and workers' compensation law.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspection reports, training sessions, and compliance documentation for internal review and regulatory audits.
- Collaborate with management to establish safety goals that foster a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety and employee health.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in transportation environments with a strong understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, OSHA safety regulations, transportation management systems (TMS), and are highly preferred.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation law and occupational health standards to support employee well-being initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and prepare detailed reports.
- Excellent communication skills for delivering training sessions and reporting findings clearly to diverse audiences.
- Ability to interpret complex safety regulations and implement effective compliance strategies.
