Position Summary
The Data Technician is responsible for supporting the All-Electronic Tolling system on the Massachusetts Turnpike through installations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and system health checks. This role ensures the tolling system operates at peak performance 24/7 while delivering reliable, high-quality field support. We are seeking a tech-savvy, motivated individual with strong technical aptitude and a commitment to excellent customer service. While prior low-voltage experience is preferred, it is not required. Essential Functions & Duties:
- Monitor tolling equipment to confirm performance meets the required specifications.
- Conduct bi-annual preventive maintenance on all gantry equipment.
- Perform weekly site visits with thorough walkthrough inspections.
- Diagnose and repair electronic and mechanical issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with client agreements, standards, and scope of work requirements.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with the Manager, Scheduling team, and Operations team.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Information Technology – Installation and Configuration
- Digital Signage – Installation and Configuration
- Audio/Video – Installation and Configuration
- Consumer Electronics
- 12-Volt Electrical Systems – Installation and Configuration
- Proficiency in using hand tools and test equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to support overnight installations when required.
- Willingness and capability to operate a bucket truck during highway closures.
- Ability to adapt and perform effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
- Organized, self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Professional appearance and conduct at client sites.
