Job Description Summary: The purpose of the Orientation Facilitator is to facilitate the day-to-day operation with Independent Contractors during the onboarding orientation. The purpose for this position is to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for the driver through recruiting to first dispatch, while displaying industry expertise. Critical Job Functions: Provide continuous training for all new driver programs/curriculum presented at orientation. Monitor pre-trip and post-trip inspections for all incoming independent contractors. Conduct driver road test for all incoming independent contractors. Administer and provide all organization-wide training assessment and identify skills of knowledge gaps that needs to be addressed for all drivers in orientation. Develop training materials, communications, and activities to meet the organization's requirements. Coordinate processes and hold accountable for orientation and learning development. Consult with local and corporate management and employees across multiple operating companies. Administer and Create orientation programs for operational responsibilities. Work closely with the with lease purchase vendors, lease purchase documentation, and lease purchase contracts. Create and maintain a positive atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet the company demands and expectations and encourage the facilitators to remain positive. Answer questions related to documentation, and all other topics discussed in orientation to include answering questions that facilitators may have pertaining to processes. Interact with recruiting and other departments to acquire and approve documentation needed for onboarding and driver qualification files. Observe the potential IC/Driver in orientation and ensure that he or she is a good fit to the overall operation and assist the facilitators with this process. Ensure that each driver meets the requirements based on Roadrunner qualifications and documentation submitted in orientation and assist the facilitators with this process. Communicate with IC/Driver prior to orientation and explain all requirements as it pertains to documentation needed in orientation to complete the orientation process. Ensure, by completion of orientation, that all drivers completing the training courses have all documentation approved, placed, and filed within the Driver Master File and Driver DQ file for Corporate and FMCSA compliance. Receives very general guidance with respect to overall objectives; works very close with Learning & Development Manager and Orientation Facilitators; operates within corporate and department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives. Job Requirements: High school diploma at a minimum. Class A CDL required. One to Five years of related professional work experience. Good oral / lecturing skills. Bilingual a plus but not required. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to handle task and administrative duties simultaneously. Good understanding of the Transportation Industry as it relates to trucking. Good understanding of the Transportation industry as it relates to federal and state local rules. Good understanding of the Transportation industry as it relates to federal and state regulations. Proficient in computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AS/400 type systems, and Tenstreet (a plus but not required). Proficient in typing and filing. Involves a high degree of responsibility for working with, safeguarding, and controlling highly restricted information, knowledge, or important confidences. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Demonstrated ability to adapt to and handle change quickly. Good organizational skills. Ability to relate with others well. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to supervise all road test as well as ride-along with the prospective drivers during orientation. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach/handle items, work with fingers, distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and talk and hear others in conversations via the phone or in person. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift objects up to 20 lb. Work Environment: The noise level is moderate based on general conversation tones, ringing phones and laser printer operation. Works in well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation 90% of the time. May occasionally work outside in-service center or field locations. Occasional work near moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. Compensation: The estimated compensation for this role is $50,000 to $60,000.
