Assistant Counsel (Attorney)

Job Description Summary: The Assistant Counsel will support Roadrunner’s legal function in day-to-day corporate and commercial matters, with a strong focus on contract review and negotiation. This position is ideal for a recent law school graduate seeking hands-on, in-house experience across a wide range of business and legal issues. You’ll work directly with the General Counsel and cross-functional business teams to ensure our agreements protect Roadrunner’s interests and align with company strategy. Critical Job Functions: Review, draft, and revise commercial contracts, including customer, vendor, and service agreements. Identify and communicate legal and business risks, providing practical recommendations. Maintain and improve contract templates, playbooks, and processes for consistency and efficiency. Support internal stakeholders on compliance, corporate governance, and policy matters. Conduct legal research and prepare summaries or memoranda as needed. Coordinate with outside counsel on specialized matters. Assist the General Counsel with special projects and legal department organization. Job Requirements: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. state. 0–2 years of relevant experience (law firm or in-house). Strong understanding of contract law and attention to detail. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills. Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience reviewing or drafting commercial agreements preferred. Familiarity with LTL shipping, logistics, transportation, or B2B services preferred. Experience using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams preferred.
