Road Warrior Staffing is hiring experienced Regional CDL A Drivers for a dedicated freight lane between Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Chicago, Illinois.
This is a great opportunity for a Class A truck driver looking for consistent regional miles, home time every weekend, dedicated routes, and competitive weekly pay.
Drivers are paid $0.55 CPM based on practical/authorized dispatch miles, with the opportunity to earn an additional $0.02 CPM quarterly safety bonus when qualification requirements are met.
Drivers receive a $1,000 weekly minimum gross pay guarantee when qualified and can expect average weekly earnings of approximately $1,400–$1,500.
The position primarily hauls large paper rolls using modified drop-deck dry van trailers. Freight is primarily no-touch, allowing drivers to focus on safely operating the truck and completing their dedicated route.
Dedicated Regional Route
The primary dedicated lane runs between:
Cedar Rapids, IA ↔ Chicago, IL
Drivers are home every weekend, with the weekend defined as Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, not to exceed 48 hours.
Depending on the driver's location and operational needs, drivers may also have opportunities to get home during the week.
Qualified drivers who have a safe and suitable location to park the truck may have the opportunity to take the truck home.
Duties
The Regional CDL A Driver will be responsible for:
Safely operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle.
Transporting primarily paper-roll freight between Cedar Rapids, IA and Chicago, IL.
Operating modified drop-deck dry van equipment designed to transport large paper rolls.
Completing assigned dedicated routes safely and efficiently.
Maintaining reliable and on-time pickup and delivery schedules.
Performing required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Following all applicable DOT regulations and company safety requirements.
Maintaining a safe and professional driving record.
Properly securing and transporting freight.
Communicating with dispatch, customers, and company personnel as necessary.
Maintaining assigned equipment and reporting maintenance concerns.
Providing professional customer service at pickup and delivery locations.
Prioritizing safety while maintaining dependable service for customers and carrier partners.
Qualifications
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Must hold a valid Class A CDL.
Minimum 6 months of verifiable Class A combination-vehicle driving experience.
Recent Class A experience must meet the requirements of the applicable driving division.
Regional or OTR experience is preferred but not required.
Must have a valid DOT Medical Certificate properly merged with the driver's CDL.
Must have Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification on the CDL.
Must successfully complete required pre-employment training and testing.
Must successfully pass a road test at the beginning of orientation.
Class B/straight-truck experience does not count toward the Class A experience requirement.
Employment History
Drivers should have no more than 4 commercial driving jobs within the previous 12 months.
Applicants who have been out of driving for an extended period may be subject to additional safety review.

Pay

Sign-On Bonus
The $1,500 sign-on bonus is paid in installments:
$500 after 30 days
$500 after 60 days
$500 after 90 days
Drivers must remain actively employed and meet applicable requirements on each payout date to qualify for the applicable installment.
Orientation Pay
Drivers are eligible for $1,000 in orientation pay, paid as follows:
$500 paid the Saturday following successful orientation and required delivery requirements
$500 plus regular wages for work completed paid the following week
Orientation pay is subject to applicable completion and employment requirements.
Home Time
Home every weekend
Weekend consists of Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
Weekend home time will not exceed 48 hours
Potential opportunities for additional home time during the week
Drivers may have the opportunity to take the truck home if they have an appropriate place to park it
Equipment
Drivers operate newer Freightliner Cascadia equipment, primarily:
2023 model-year trucks
Mostly automatic transmissions
Limited manual 10-speed trucks may be available upon request, depending on equipment availability
