Job Duties

Performs a variety of more difficult technical and supportive professional engineering tasks for FAST-TRAC and other ITS programs, including, but not limited to:

  • Generate traffic signal timings for both SCATS and non-SCATS intersections.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate signal paperwork for field install.
  • Prepare and enter SCATS and CENTRACS data.
  • Monitor traffic in the field or remotely (SCATS, CCTV); make appropriate changes.
  • Coordinate Communication and/or Detection issues.
  • Respond to Cityworks requests / comments.
  • Review and provide comments on consultant signal timing projects.
  • Respond to overtime calls.
  • Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A demonstrated willingness and desire to learn new skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must have the ability to work within a team environment.
  • Must perform duties in a professional manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County.
  • Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.
  • Regular and predictable onsite job attendance.

Special Experience/Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required
  • One (1) year of experience commensurate with the duties described above is preferred.
  • A valid State of Michigan Driver License is required.
