HIM Technician – Day Shift

Job Summary:
Adventist Health Hanford is looking for a detail-oriented Health Information Management (HIM) Technician to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, scanning, and maintaining medical records, assisting with birth certificate documentation, and supporting release of information services. Schedule: Day Shift
Responsibilities:
Retrieve and reconcile medical records from nursing units.
Prepare medical records for efficient scanning, ensuring quality and completeness.
Scan documents, verify image quality, and complete the scanning process for Quality Review.
Maintain and organize paper records, pull charts for patient care, and track them in chart tracking software.
Retrieve charts from permanent files and off-site storage, assist with records purging.
Interview mothers for birth certificate information and enter data into the electronic birth certificate system.
Process birth and fetal death certificates, submit to the county, and handle related inquiries.
Assist physicians with chart deficiencies and respond to document imaging and transcription-related inquiries.
Ensure scanning equipment is functioning properly.
Conduct chart audits and assist in deficiency analysis.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma/GED preferred
Associate’s/Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
Previous experience in health information management or medical records a plus
Skills & Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and document imaging systems
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Strong communication and customer service abilities
