SUMMARY:
The Cash Processing Associate reports to the Manager of Cash Management. Responsible for the daily applications of cash processing and reconciliation of payments to the accounts receivable (AR). Maintains a high level of customer service through the processing of payments at the cashiers or mail. Responsible for the processing of daily departmental cash deposits through proper accountability, accurate recoding payment in system and safekeeping of monetary amounts. Demonstrates support of the Hospital values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the organization.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff when approached at front cashiers window.
2. Process accurately over the counter cash received from patients into their respective patient account profile.
3. Reconciles cash deposits and non-patient cash from various departments. Reviews the accuracy of GL account assignment.
4. Prepares, reconciles and records daily bank deposits.
5. Reconciles coin bank.
6. Processes Petty Cash Vouchers as needed.
7. Batches and processes scanned payments into the cash processing support system, providing cash posters with backup for insurance payments received in the mail to post to patient accounts.
8. Researches payments related to patient accounts.
9. Researches payments received for fiscal which may be not patient related.
10. Analyzes and process all payments received, via the mail, or from electronic bank lock box.
QUALIFICATIONS:
One year experience handling cash. Excellent customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting. High school diploma. Bilingual.
