Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Tax Associate to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who has developed a strong foundation in tax compliance and is ready to take on more complex work, increased client interaction, and mentorship responsibilities.
The Senior Tax Associate will prepare and review tax returns, assist with tax planning, and serve as a key point of contact for clients, while supporting and guiding junior staff. This position offers a clear path for continued growth into management for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Planning
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and nonprofits
- Handle more complex tax engagements with minimal supervision
- Assist with tax planning and projections, identifying opportunities for tax savings
- Research tax issues and provide clear, well-documented conclusions
Client Service
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide updates
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive, high-quality service
- Assist in advising clients on tax matters, with support from senior leadership as needed
Team Support & Development
- Review work prepared by junior staff for accuracy and completeness
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to Tax Associates and interns
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on continuous learning
Practice Support
- Help manage workflow and deadlines, particularly during busy seasons
- Maintain organized and compliant client files
- Stay current on tax law changes and industry developments
- Support accounting and bookkeeping projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field (required)
- CPA license or CPA candidate strongly preferred
- 35 years of experience in public accounting or tax preparation
- Solid understanding of federal and state tax regulations
- Experience reviewing returns and working with more complex tax situations
- Proficiency in tax software (e.g., Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Commitment to professionalism, client service, and confidentiality

Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
